This work was commissioned by the Clarsach Society to celebrate the 80th birthday of Isobel Mieras, the President of the Clarsach Society. Isobel is one of the most well known figures in the harp world; she has worked for over forty years with the Clarsach Society to instigate and foster interest in the clarsach (lever harp). An inspirational teacher and mentor to generations of young musicians many of her former pupils now have established careers as performers, composers and teachers themselves.

Elinor Evans is a former pupil of Isobel’s. A performer, composer, arranger and dedicated teacher, Elinor was the first Scottish harpist to win the prestigious Trophée Camac de Harpe Celtique in Lorient, Brittany in 2015. She has released a CD and an EP showing her distinctive style and featuring her own compositions alongside sensitive arrangements of traditional pieces. In 2019 Elinor won the Princess Margaret of the Isles Memorial Prize for Senior Clarsach at Armadale Castle, Skye.
